Belgium.

I went to Belgium this summer, but only recently got around to selecting some of the very few photos I took on the trip :)

I also shot a whole bunch on a throwaway but I still haven't got around to processing them yet..

50 Shades of Grey...

So today I've been going through the complete and utter train wreck which is my hard drive, trying to sort out 2 years worth of folders which are typically logistically named 'things' or 'stuff'.
I'm starting Uni soon, and I realised I don't want to get 3 years down the line only to discover that I now have 5 YEARS of work to decode and re-organise. I'm going to be honest with you, it's been pretty rough. I've had to ask myself a lot of questions about the way my brain feels it is fit to organise a folder. Because my brain was oh so wrong.
Anyway, whilst I was weeping my way through 'AS Photography' I stumbled across some photos I took experimenting with different textures I found in my room. I wanted to share them and as an added blog bonus, my friend came up with the title (I don't want to take his credit, because I never would have thought of it on my own :P ). Just trying to keep things relevant and trendy, as you do.

Hoping the sun will come out a lot more the rest of the summer!

kisskissbangbang & photography exams...

So my last photography project o the school year has been handed in. I think now might me a good time to let you guys into my portfolio and see the final product!

The exam question I chose to work under was 'approaches to portraiture' and I worked around the idea of fashion photography (of course). I developed an brand called 'kisskissbangbang' which promotes itself as a vintage inspired clothes shop, similar to shops like Modcloth.

I shot 4 ads, inspired by the photos from H&M campaigns, one for each season...enjoy!

If you like them and want to see more then you can at my facebook page! There's the photos which I loved but didn't quite make the cut as well as others from my portfolio :)

I haven't put these up in order of season, so see if you can guess which is which :P Please give me feedback as I'd love to hear what you think!

Spring in Richmond...

So another long silence, and I am back with a few new shots for you :) We've been gearing up for the A level exams and the time of mocks has fallen upon me. It's all good though, sun has been shining...had a short holiday to Belgium...I've watched some TV. Ah well, time to give that life up to bury myself in work. It's all good.

Away from work I've started training for the Race for Life 5k run I will be taking part in with my neighbours, on July 15th at the Old Deer Park. I did it once before without training, and a woman in a cow suit overtook me. By a lot.

So this time round it's different!

I went and I signed up to Parkrun, a community 5k run on Saturday morning. There were around 320 people running, it was really inspiring to see all those people up for what was a pretty gruelling walk/jog/run.
Anyway enough self indulgent babbling, instead I shall show you the photos of the Park we took on an early wander this morn. I don't know why we went because I am really not a morning person. I had to drag myself out of bed, but it was worth it :)

There's also new fashion shots from a Pin Up project I have been working on for my exam, up on my facebook page, I'll put them up here as well soon. If you fancy a look then you can see them at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Scarlett-Letter/242327295854726

Karneval 2012...

A few weeks ago, for half term break, I returned to Cologne to stay with the amazing Leyla and her family to celebrate Karneval. It's basically a big german festival where everyone dresses up, aka my kind of festival! Some of the costumes were so hilariously brilliant. We also visited the chocolate museum, which was just....well...I want to live there. They give you free chocolate from a giant chocolate fountain in the shape of a tree! Another greate food spot was the 'Royal Cupcake' shop which makes cupcakes named after celebrities, we got the Marilyn Monroe.

We had a such a good time and I wish we had had just a few more days to celebrate :') Photo time!

We hung out with the lovely guys from Creative Injection (seen above), a german band who just so happen to be coming to Brighton to do a few gigs next week! Check out the gig info on their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1386703856#!/events/155696281205855/

The Cardigan of Mixed Emotions...

On Saturday, alongside 100 or so elaborately attired ragamuffins, I nerded out at an event for the release of Dave Brown and Noel Fielding’s new book 'The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton' in Golden Square, Soho.
It was a pretty mixed bunch, including at least 5 sporting Noel's hair, one woman who had been at the square since the night before, 1 man dressed as an elephant, several hardcore emos and 1 impressively dressed vintage couple. The crowd were buzzy and emitted an impressively loud scream when the duo appeared and began the main event, painting a billboard with a wonderfully colourful and childlike painting of a tiger sporting red boots and 2 ghosts.

Twas an eclectic mix of  painting, comedy, medieval music and breakdancing hedgehogs. There was also a painting area for people to create their own witty masterpieces, the best title going to 'The mixed Emotions Cardigan'. I also got my copy of the book signed, which was definitely the highlight of my week :) Yay for Painting and Noel Fielding and Dave Brown!
